Wednesday’s practice has change the off-ice time to rather than the initial scheduled . On ice is still scheduled from . Please ensure to spread the word so everyone is aware.
As I was not at last week’s game I have gotten feedback as to how it went. Unfortunately we lost, but on a positive note we get to play them again and the season is still young. With that being said, the coaching staff will be speaking to the players tonight before practice and after the off-ice conditioning. Off-ice time is at and on-ice starts at , rather than the 10 minutes being ready ahead of time as stated in the Conduct document (attached), we are requiring everyone be FULLY ready minus gloves and helmets 15 minutes before the practice to have a team meeting. This includes having all sticks to be taped and water bottles filled. We have been lenient on some of the guidelines and will become more strict as the season has progressed. If the players for some reason have not seen the conduct or have forgotten, please have it reviewed today before arriving at the rink.
The coaching staff would like to conduct a run / weight lifting session on Monday November 25th from . Since this is our week off and have a holiday, we want to conduct a run from and go through a weight training session for muscle development from . The intent of the weight training is for the guys to learn safe weight training practices and learn some workouts to help benefit their muscle growth. We will be using the parking lot and weight room both at Summerville High School.
See everyone for a good practice and team bonding pizza dinner afterwards. We have a huge game versus Fort Dorchester and this is the opportunity to create a name for ourselves by beating the defending champs.
SHS VS Greenville South
Tonight's game is versus Greenville South in Irmo at 7:30
Congratulations on your 5 to 3 win over Stratford friday night!
Just as a reminder this week’s practice is at with an off-ice at . As I told the guys after the skate , off-ice this week will not include running but will include going over systems such as offensive zone, defensive zone, and other key essentials before learning them on the ice. In addition, pictures will take place at on the clean ice surface. With that being said, it is essential that everyone is 100% ready to go minus helmets at the time of practice so we can get on the ice and have pictures taken to continue with practice in a timely manner. Starting , it is essential that ALL players have mouth guards in at practice. If you have to wear it in a game, you have to wear it in practice. Before any practice or game it is key to have all aspects of preparation complete such as taping sticks, sharpening skates, buying mouth guards, filling water bottles, etc. These items should be taken care of well ahead of time and if it is known it needs to be done, do it at home or show up earlier. It is not an excuse to be getting dressed when the coaches want to talk because you “forgot” to sharpen your skates or “forgot” your mouth guard.
First game is a week from vs Stratford. As mentioned at the team meeting, all players are required to wear a full sleeve button up shirt, long dress pants or khaki’s, a tie, and dress shoes (Any close toed shoes including boat shoes are permissible to prevent purchasing). Please bring shorts/pants & a tee shirt with tennis shoes for pre-game warm up as well. Dress shoes and dress attire or your hockey pants/shells are not warm up gear. The attitude has been excellent so far this season and the coaching staff along with what looks like everyone else’s thoughts are superb. It is Summerville’s season to show the league what we’re made of and start the trend from here forward to be the most respected team in the league on and off the ice…11 DAYS BOYS!!!
I hope everyone had a good first practice this past week. In the files section below is an updated schedule for our team along with the Season Schedule for all teams. In addition, the player conduct is also attached in case anyone lost it or never received it. Please forward this email along to anyone who may not be on this email chain. The schedule is tentative to change but as of right now this is how it is for practices up until Christmas break along with the entire game schedule. We are 3 weeks away from our first game so hopefully everyone is excited and ready to get going full throttle. Please see the attachments and I look forward to seeing everyone Wednesday for the off-ice conditioning at 6:15 PM prior to the 8 o’clock practice.
Please see the schedule in the FILES section for the first half of the season taking us up to the Christmas holiday. If you have any questions regarding the schedule or know of days you will not be able to make it please contact the coaching staff. Game times are shown at being only 45 minutes but is not valid and is for the Ice Palace documentation only. The games tend to usually last an hour and a half and will begin at the allocated start time pending any delays. Off-ice times have been placed directly before practice times and will start promptly at that time. We are asking that all players be at the rink at least one hour prior to game time for a pre-game warm up to get the blood flowing and to loosen up. I know this may sound like a broken record but please ensure that prior to any practice or game that all skates are sharpened, sticks are tapped, water bottles filled, etc. before the coaches are ready to talk and will not interfere with the team preparation. Speaking on behalf of myself and under the impression I am seeing from everyone, I am looking forward to a fun and exciting hockey season that we have all been looking forward to the entire summer! I will not be at the first practice next week since I will be out of town but will be in full effect as of October 9th.
On Ice Practice
I just received an e-mail that our first on ice practice will be . at , I can't let anyone that hasn't registered with USA Hockey on the ice, their is still a few players that need to get this to me, We also need the paper work you received at the meeting with a copy of your last electric bill, and a copy of your last report card, and for all the first year players I need a copy of you birth certificate ,Our next 2 practices will be , and .
PLEASE SEE THE UPDATES BELOW AND SPREAD WORD TO ALL VARSITY AND JV PLAYERS THAT WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN OFF ICE CONDITIONING:
The current schedule will remain the same other than we will be meeting at SUMMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL rather than the Ice Palace. Again,ALL conditionings will be held in the parking lot at the High School. I am uncertain exactly where the best place to run them will be pending vehicle traffic so please try and arrive to the first run to ensure we all find ourselves in the same location. The run will last from . Again, please bring your own water bottle. If you do not have a water bottle it may be time to think about getting one as one of the new rules this year will be that all Varsity Players have their own water bottle filled and ready for Games & Practices. Reasoning behind this is it promotes responsibility as well as a healthier lifestyle. If everyone brings their own water bottle throughout the season and uses only their own, it will help avoid the spread of any bacteria or illnesses that tend to occur during the Hockey/Winter season.
Look forward to seeing everyone starting Thursday September 12th at SUMMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL. Please pass the word so all are informed. All potential Varsity & JV Players are welcome.
